Let's list the main principles on which modern management is based:
- Division of labor and responsibilities. The goals and mission of a company are usually the same for everyone, but there are many tasks, and different departments are focused on their tasks. Departments can work closely with each other, the interests of one may be closely tied to the interests of the other, but the division of responsibility should be clear and clear to all.
- Unity of command and subordination. This principle is based on the fact that top management stands above all departments, the execution of whose decrees is equally obligatory for all. Progressive companies in some industries tend to move away from rigid hierarchical management. However, the presence of a senior manager who, at a minimum, sets the vector of development and makes key decisions is still typical for most organizations.
- Justice. This is a basic value that directly affects both employee loyalty to the employer and work efficiency. Decisions on encouragement, reprimand, or fines should be considered and as objective as possible.
- Support for the initiative. In a modern company, the initiative of ordinary employees should be welcomed. There is often great potential in such employees. The task of the manager is to note this and support it in every possible way.
- Delegation of authority. A professional manager can competently share responsibility for a particular business process with any subordinate.
- Responsibility. During the workflow, no matter how trivial it may sound, you regularly have to choose between personal interests and the interests of the team. This is especially true for an employee in a senior position. It is he who has to show his subordinates an example of taking responsibility for the overall results.
- Monitoring compliance with the rules. In some organizations, the rules are fixed in official job descriptions, while others have less bureaucracy. The rules may relate directly to work — for example, sales regulations — as well as discipline, safety, or the use of corporate equipment.
- Award. Employees who have high results should be identified and encouraged in various ways on time.
Support of corporate culture. The corporate spirit, the feeling of a team as a friendly family, is valued by the current generation even more than making money and career growth. In addition to HR managers, it is the responsibility of managers to organize field events and team building.
