Manager: what are the types and levels?

The number of management levels may depend on the type and size of the business. The standard number of levels in a hierarchical management scheme is three:

- The linear link. At the lower level, management means direct leadership of ordinary performers. Line managers are, for example, the head of a department or a senior manager.
- The middle link. They implement the strategy set by top management at the level of individual company departments and business processes, and are led by lower-level managers.
- The highest level. Top management is someone who carries out "management of all departments": in his area of responsibility are the policies, goals and strategy of the entire organization.
